Dear SAS-L-ers,
SAS2 posted the following: > My job is shifting me more into a SAS Administration > position. Can someone point me to a good site with some info > or provide some info on here? It will be for PC SAS 9.x > which I personally have not been able to touch. We're > currently using unix SAS 6.12 & 8.2. They've installed PC > SAS on the server and am looking to me to get it rolled out. > > Thanks in advance for any help...I've found a few things, but > mostly for older SAS versions. > SAS2, hey, that sounds like fun; I'll bet that you learn a lot of cool new things! I would recommend that you bookmark the following page of the SAS Support web site: http://support.sas.com/documentation...ter/index.html ....it is a good jumping-off point for installation information "from the horse's mouth". Since your site is currently using an earlier version of SAS, you should check out the Migration SAS Community: http://support.sas.com/rnd/migration/index.html ....it will give you some ideas on what you may be facing when migrating to SAS V9. Additionally, if you are going to be the BIG CHEESE with in-house SAS support, you might want to look at my NESUG 2006 paper, Supporting SAS in a Research Organization: http://www.nesug.org/proceedings/nesug06/as/as02.pdf ....it is loaded with great (if I may say so) information on how to support SAS throughout an organization. Finally, check out the "Tales from the Help Desk" SUGI/SGF papers by Bruce Gilsen: http://www2.sas.com/proceedings/sugi29/074-29.pdf http://www2.sas.com/proceedings/forum2007/211-2007.pdf ....they contain invaluable information about the mistakes that your constituency will be making and asking you about. SAS2, best of luck in all of your SAS endeavors! I hope that this suggestion proves helpful now, and in the future! Of course, all of these opinions and insights are my own, and do not reflect those of my organization or my associates.
