Default Oracle DB Support / OpenVMS support

I've recently inherited responsibility for an OpenVMS SAS environment
which utilizes Oracle client software to connect/pull/push data. We
are utilizing an Oracle 8i client which is showing signs of
incompatability with our Oracle 10g databases (oracle errors, incorrect
metadata). We have an open case with SAS on the issue and they have
indicated that there is a forth-coming SAS/Oracle module update that
will allow us to use an Oracle 9.2 client - but this will still not
allow us to perform direct loading into Oracle 10g. Can anyone share
their experience on SAS OpenVMS support and/or SAS support of Oracle
9.2 or 10g client in SAS 8.2 or 9.1.3.
Thank you.
