wAs my other post to an old thread says, I'm getting closer to my
webpage working, but I'm still not sure anyone will care, so I'm trying to save money, at least until I find out if anyone wants it. Plus money is tight to begin with. ( I should have worked longer hours when I was younger) So I could use help on the bureaucratic parts of a webpage. What do you all think about free web-hosting? The only one I really found was http://horizon-host.com *** It says no ads, and it gives far more diskspace, bandwidth, and email than I will ever use. I don't need any database or data. So far my only plans are for one site totally 2 pages, maybe 200K total, and if I get 100 hits a month, I'll be surprised and happy. But they don't get the domain name, but Register.com wants only 2 dollars a year for a domain name. Everyone says "a year" but I guess they all mean "the first year". And register.com doesn't say what they charge after the first year. Or is there a good reason to spend extra money and start with namecheap.com** or even godaddy.com? For example, will they somehow do a better job of registering my domain? Namecheap charges 4 dollars a month if I pay a year in advance. Godaddy is now charging 4.74/month instead of $6 for the same year in advance, but also has $2/month for the first 3 months. Both give some sort of discount on getting me my domain name, which I have picked out and which was still available 3 days ago. Thanks a lot. ***There also free web-hosts here, http://www.free-webhosts.com/ , specifically here http://www.free-webhosts.com/search-...1&ORDER=3&CO=1 I meet their standards in most cases, but I haven't taken the time to review their rules. |
