Default flexible size JTable?

I'd like to make a JTable whose columns have a flexible size,
kind of like HTML. Suppose there were just 2 columns. I'd
like to make it so:

total table size is a fixed width, say 300 pixels

left column is just wide enough to display all the elements,
according to the getPreferredSize() of the column renderer

right column gets all the rest of the size, whatever is left
over after the left column

Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance,
