I've not used 12v1 at all, so I can't compare...but I don't see any
slowdown at all with 12v2. Speed across the board is definitely
something they put a lot of effort into.

I've seen comments on the FileMaker forums that table and list views
scrolling is much better. I haven't tried myself.
