Default Display Manager versus Enterprise Guide

Hi SAS-Lers,

This message is mainly intended for users who use SAS in a Windows
environment and mainly for people in the Pharma/Biotech industry.

Here at work, we use PC SAS to develop our programs. Then we do our
final runs on a Windows server in batch mode. By the way, we are using
SAS 9.1.3.

Consequently, we mainly use Display Manager to write our program. One
of my co-workers (a contract SAS progammer) has a particular
functionality that he likes in Display Manager. However, this
functionality is not working in SAS 9.1.3 like it did with previous
versions of SAS. So, he contacted SAS tech support and they told him
that SAS is no longer supporting the development of the Display Manager
and is concentrating on developing the functionality of Enterprise
Guide. In fact the person at SAS tech support told my co-worker that
the Display Manager is being phased-out in favor of Enterprise Guide.
They told my co-worker that he could configure Enterprise Guide to work
like the Display Manager and that the functionality that he wanted was
available in Enterprise Guide.

My question are:

1) Has anyone else run into any functionality problems with Diplay
Manager in version 9.1.3?

2) Is anyone using Enterprise Guide in a manner similar to a Display
Manager? If so, do you like Enterprise Guide any better or worse than
the Display Manager.

Thanks in advance for your input!
